Marty Curry: We're all in the same canoe

Produced by Nick Vander Puy
Reserve, Wisconsin (IndianCountryTV)

Marty Curry is looking over material many consider junk on Madeline Island.

Old doors, semi-trailers, pipe, telephone poles, wire, windows, water tanks, all the refugees and cast-offs from throw away, industrial civilization.

Curry is a journalist and a welder. He's been working with island visionary Tom Nelson, the proprietor of Tom's Burnt Down Cafe, to show how castaway stuff (usually headed for the landfill) can be kept and viewed as both useful and  beautiful.

The word here is first, reduce, re-use, and repair, and only then, re-cycle.

By re-arranging the cast off material and planting squash on the island, Curry highlights restoration efforts going on across America.

"We're all in the same canoe...and it's going down."
