Kakkak: A Feeling of Radical Tenderness

Produced by Nick Vander Puy

On a spiritual run, like the 2009 Healing Circle journey, between eight Ojibwe reserves in Wisconsin and Minnesota,  every step is a prayer.

But that doesn't mean the trip isn't playful. There's lots of joking and kidding.

Running and walking several hours a day, eating good, wholesome food and plenty of water, sweat lodge, pipe, and water ceremonies, being out in the woods, brings out the  feeling of lightness, goodwill, and tenderness.

Kakkak from the Turtle Mountain reserve in North Dakota talks about how to keep the feelings alive.

"The times are changin'. We've come  a long way since the '80's Walleye War with the State."
