Sheoships, Bernadine M. "Tex"

OREGON, Pendleton – A Mass of Christian Burial was held for BERNADINE M. “TEX” SHEOSHIPS, 63, on November 17, 2009, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Mission in Pendleton. Interment followed at St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Bernadine was born June 5, 1946, in Pendleton. She passed away November 12, 2009, at Evergreen Health Center in Milton-Freewater, Umatilla, Oregon.

Bernadine was raised in Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton High School. After high school she attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas, where she completed the culinary program. After graduating from Haskell, she started working at different diners, starting out at Vern’s Cafe, later the Downtowner. She lived and worked in Topeka, Kansas for 38 years before returning home to Pendleton, where she worked for the Wildhorse Hotel in the laundry. She was a Wildhorse Silver Card Member. She enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. She enjoyed cooking, family get-togethers and visiting Wildhorse Casino, but mostly she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was also interested in martial arts and history. She had been a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. (Confederated Umatilla Journal, December 2009)
