Arizona, Ganado – Funeral services for Sammie Slivers Sr., 95, of Ganado were held Mar. 3, 2018 at the Ganado Presbyterian Church.  Burial followed in Ganado.  Sammie was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Ganado, into the Tsenjikini (Honey Combed Rock People Clan), born for Tl’izi lani (Many Goats Clan). Sammie passed away Feb. 26, 2018, in Ganado.


Sammie is survived by his wife, Isabelle Slivers; sons, Wilbert, Delbert, Ernest and Sammie Jr. Slivers; daughters, Alta Evans, Hilda Slivers, Ernestine Yazzie, Clara Begay, Sarah Begay, Linda Begay, and Cinlinda Tsui; and 37 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his son, Rogers Slivers; parents, Nat and Tahhabah Slivers; sister, Grace Gorman; and brother, Nat Slivers Jr. Sammie worked as a heavy equipment operator for 20-plus years. Johnny is survived by his wife, Rae F. Thompson; children, Lita (David Gomez) Thompson, Samuel Thompson, Kerry (Ryan Wilson) Thompson, J. Kelly Thompson Jr. and Jovana Thompson; sister and brother, Mary K. Courtney and Jackson Williams and their families; sisters, Marilyn and Marlene; nephew, Calvin (Eunice) Kelly; stepsisters, Susie, Nora and Eva; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.  He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, JB (Brownie), Guy and Joe Kelly; aunt, Mary Lou Williams; niece, Rachel Long (nee Kelly); stepbrothers, Willard and James Kelly; and stepsister, Rosebelle Kelly. Arizona, Sanders – A memorial service for David Graham Murray, 83, was held Mar. 3, 2018 at the Sanders Church of God in Sanders.  David was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Freeport, PA., to John Edwin Murray and Virginia Feru Renouf Murray.  He passed away Feb. 24, 2018, in Sanders. David is survived by his wife, Emily B. Murray; stepdaughters, Cecelia Stewart, Gennie Dennison and Bernadette King; stepsons, Danny Yazzie Jr. and Emmanuel Yazzie; brothers, John Hesselgesser and Edwin Murray; sisters, Ann Wagner and Nancy Price; and 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded is death by his parents; son, Patrick Murray; and sister, Sue Huff. David served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956 and was in law enforcement for 20 years.  David served as Apache County sheriff and board chairman for the Puerco Valley Fire Station. Clark, 55, of Blackrock, were held Mar. 13, 2018 at the Chinle Potters House.  Interment followed at the Del Muerto community cemetery.  Jackson was born Nov. 9, 1962, in Winslow, AZ, into the Ma’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan), born for To’aheedliinii (Water Flow Together Clan).  Jackson passed away Mar. 8, 2018, in Taylor, AZ. Jackson is survived by his companion, Sandy Hook; sons, Brandon Clark, Gjermundson Clark, Cole Clark, and Bryson Clark; daughter, Mariah Clark; and four sisters, four brothers and on grandchild.  He is preceded in death by his parent, Herman and Zonnie Clark; sisters, Emma Begay and Margaret Clark; and brothers, Larry, Chester, Albert and Cecil Clark. Jackson attended Dine College, graduating form Western School of Horseshoeing, and Whiteriver in the medical field.  Jackson worked at Chinle Dialysis, Chinle Hospital and Dine College.  He also worked as a veterinary assistant, construction and certified professional farrier. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Ruth Tso; daughter, Vanessa Tso; brothers, Daniel, Franklin, and Donald Tso; sisters, Nora Lossiah, Diane Blackwell and Ina Tso; and four grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Lenora Martin. Benjamin graduated from Dine College.  He was employed as a mental health counselor in Indian Health Services in Fort Defiance.  He served a roadman with the Native American Church and served on the Fort Defiance Veterans Honor Guard. Lena is survived by her husband, Louis Eskeets; sons, Ervin Patterson, Leon and Lonnie Eskeets; daughter, LeAnn Yazzie; and brother, Eugene Charley.  She is preceded in death by her son, Levon Eskeets; daughter, Lynette Eskeets; parents, Little and Bonnie Charley; and sisters, Madesda Benally, Aurelia Moore and Vida Yazzie. Lena attended Northern Arizona University and Utah State.  She worked for 28 years as the financial assistance program supervisor for the State of New Mexico Income Support Division.
